    2019 Recap

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about living more intentionally. Click HERE to read that post. In that post, I wrote about how I wanted to make a “recap,” of 2019 before it even started. The reason behind that is because if I do, I am more likely to do all the things I write. It’s something I can hold myself to and make sure that everything I do leads me to the things I intend to do throughout the year. Almost like a vision board. So, without further ado here are all the things that I want to do in 2019.  The key here is I am going…

Be Kind, Say Thank You, and Reflect

I spend a lot of my days running around like a chicken with my head cut off. I don’t slow down for much. Many days I don’t have a ton of time to even think. But every night when I lay down to go to bed and one dog lays on each side of my legs, and Leia makes the noise she does when she gets comfortable and Drew and Luke start their regularly programmed see who can snore louder contest, one word pops into my mind. The word is thankful. Really, it happens almost every night. It reminds me of how lucky I am.  Then it leads me to…

    I CAN…..

In the last couple of years, I have told myself “I can’t,” a ridiculous, countless amount of times. I’m talking COUNTLESS. I come up with a million reasons why I can’t do whatever it is that I’m thinking about and I make excuses.   Then I talk myself into thinking I don’t want too.  For example, I quit smoking about three months ago. I would tell myself it would be too hard, I couldn’t do it at the job I’m at or around the people I always am. That would manifest into “wait, I really don’t want to stop smoking.” “If I am going to quit I am really going to…

    BEING INTENTIONAL

The last couple of months I have been thinking a lot about time. It comes up in my conversations with people, in books that I am reading, and in my thoughts, all the time. Time is something that is so limited, and every minute should count. Consequently, I have been thinking a lot about how I spend my own time. On a typical work day for me, I start work any time from 10am to 2pm. I thought about what I do with my time before I work at 10am, or if I don’t work until 2pm how I spend the first part of my day in that case. I…

    2018; A Year to Remember

The older I get, it seems, the faster the years go. It feels like maybe a month ago we were heading into 2018, but here we are going into 2019! 2018 was full of memories for me, and I have spent a lot of time thinking about those memories. Here are a few of my favorites: We spent the first full year in our house We made a ton of memories here. A TON. We celebrated New Year’s Eve (last year), Easter, Halloween, Christmas and tonight we are preparing to ring in another new year here in this house. We have had both friends and family in and out of…

    Joining a Book Club!

I absolutely LOVE to read. It is one of my favorite things to do. It is also one of the things that I find hardest to get around to doing. It requires me sitting still in a quiet place, and paying attention for a period of time. I have also told myself countless times that it is not the most important thing that I have to do in a day, so I skipped it. There have been long periods of times when I went a long time without reading for these reasons. But then a beautiful thing happened to me! One day a beautiful friend of mine, Danielle, texted me…

How to Stay Sane When Work is Insane

If you don’t know this about me yet, I work retail. If you know anything about retail, you know that these coming months are the busiest time of the year for us. Every industry has a time of the year that they are absolutely out of their mind busy, and everyone in the industry is running around like a chickezn with their head cut off trying to hold it all together, and get everything done. When that time of the year comes around it feels like everything else stops. Even though you aren’t at work 100% of the time, you are so tired from whatever it is that is going…

Everyone You Know, Knows Something You Don’t

“Everyone you know, knows something you don’t.” This is one of my favorite quotes ever. I like to call myself a “life-long learner.” I actually get bored if I am not learning something new. I love to learn new things, especially from other people. I used to be really, really shy, until I got a retail job. Now one of the things that I value the most about meeting new people is that there is always something to learn from them. Whether they are in a field that is interesting to you, or they have experience in something that maybe you are struggling with. Other people are your absolute best…
